| Business Background
and History
In many countries, drink driving
is a serious problem. According to research statistics, more than
40% of traffic accidents are alcohol related, and the economic cost
to society is very high.
Currently there is no effective way to prevent
drink driving. Penalties are imposed only after the occurrence of
an accident. Very often, innocent lives are lost and more are injured.
Existing ignition locking devices involve major
modifications to the car itself and require special installations.
i-KEY, on the other hand, is a device independent
of the construction of the vehicle. It can readily replace the original
car key, and provide effective prevention of drink driving at only
a fraction of the cost (of modifying a car).
Location and Initial Product Launch
i-KEY was developed in Japan,
and has undergone thorough testing for many months. The
i-KEY will be first launched in Japan around the fourth
quarter of 2004.
